Match Report
Repton School U15B vs  Ockbrook School Boys-U15A
On: Tuesday, 17 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

A convincing second-half display in blazing Derbyshire sunshine saw the team maintain its 100% winning start.

Agaist Ockbrook's A team, it was obvious they were going to have some star players and, while Allen kept their big centre-forward quiet for most of the game, we did concede in the 6th minute to a strong run and fine strike.

In a quite even first half, we played into their hands by playing too close together, restricting our ability to find the killer pass or have time for a long-range shot. However, we did win an inordinate number of corners, finally profiting from one, Captain Starnick heading home the equaliser.

Pressing with new confidence, we laid siege to their penalty box and could have scored several, Xie going close a number of times, before the game's most beautiful moment - a pinpoint pass from the left midfield from Hendon found Huang with enough time and space to take a touch, turn and shoot home.

Now up in the game, the second half was an easier affair: we created more chances and spread the play more, scoring twice in the early part of the second half - Williamson tapping in after some penalty-box-pinball between the teams and Huang poking home from short range for his brace.

However, their centre-forward was still causing problems - for the most part dealt with with bravery and skill by Allen - but he managed his second on the break again to give Ockbrook some hope.

Two goals in two minutes at the other end, though, a tap-in from Ilincheta Raventos moments after being subbed on and another Williamson tap-in at the far post, saw the game beyond their reach. O'Brien added a last in the closing minutes after more penalty-box-pinball.

Great play from the side - and nice for Rollett and Lau to make their debuts for the team. Ten days, now, to prepare for Millfield away...!

Goals: Starnick (22), Huang (27, 46), Williamson (38, 57), Ilincheta Raventos (55), O'Brien (64)

Man of the Match: Great team performance today, but Louis Allen for excellent defending and Hugo Hendon for the pass/assist of the day.
